Mad about Mars Open Night
The Red Planet will be a beauty to the unaided eye this July onwards, as it comes the closest to Earth it will be for the next 17 years.
Join us on the night of Mars opposition when Earth, the Sun and Mars line up. Catch a short planetarium show, dine at onsite food trucks, use the large Zeiss telescope and courtyard telescopes, explore the Space Gallery and more!
While Mars will still be visible for some stellar public viewing from mid-July through to the end of August, we wanted to celebrate the night of opposition with a fun, family viewing event. More details of the night will be released in the coming few weeks.
Friday 27 July
$5 per person
No need to book. Mars will be overhead (for best viewing) at midnight but come as you please (be at 6PM on the dot or midnight)! We will have the telescopes out as soon as its dark enough and the food trucks will be running throughout the evening.
Why have we gone Mad About Mars? Well, the Red Planet will be a beauty to the unaided eye during July and August, as it comes the closest to Earth it will be for the next 17 years.
